Catching all possible vireo's, isn't that awesome?

White-eyed Vireo, Blue-headed Vireo, Yellow-throated Vireo, Philadelphia Vireo, Warbling Vireo and Red-eyed Vireo, yup, we caught them all today! I didn't succeed in getting a picture of all species in one photo however :(. These six species of vireo are the only ones occurring here, so it was pretty cool that we caught all of these today. The Yellow-throated and the Warbling Vireo were quite unusual as Powdermill bands 1-2 every year. The Yellow-throated was the 2nd for the fall and the Warbling already the 3rd! Connecticut Warblers were record-breaking today with 5 being caught (4 new 1 recap), incredible. We've already banded 20 CoWa's this fall... Furthermore we had the first Yellow-rumped Warbler of the fall. During the first round a Spotted Sandpiper was present in one of the ponds, but we didn't catch it. Some migrating raptors were seen such as Sharp-shinned Hawk and Broad-winged Hawk. The total of new birds passed the 100 again. We caught 37 species (42 recaptures including!), the highest diversity so far this fall. The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds seem to have left, none were banded the last two days.

I guess that from now on Brandy is Brandon again! This fat Garder Snake has been hanging around the small barn at Powdermill for a while.
Impressive!
And this Chipmunk found his way into the net in some way..
